INFOLYSiS team participated in the “5G Networks Programmability” on the 21st and 22nd of March. In this joint workshop organized by EVOLVED-5G project and the Computer Science department of Athens Metropolitan College, several partners presented the main characteristics of 5G networks and initial developments in the framework of EVOLVED-5G project. Also, three SMEs involved in the project presented their NetApp demos. INFOLYSiS, one of the three SMEs, presented the “INFOLYSiS NetApp”.

INFOLYSiS (www.infolysis.gr) is a Greek IT SME which specializes on the development of viber and web- based chatbot applications. In the context of EVOLVED-5G project INFOLYSiS utilizes the web-based chatbot platform in order to provide self-contained information within the factory environment and support workers during their everyday workflow. The web-based chatbot is boosted by the 5G network to provide accurate indoor location. In the INFOLYSiS demo, the inside area of the factory is divided in different cells according to the placement of the 5G network and each cell consists of several machines. Since the workers of the factory have access to the chatbot application via a smart device, they can easily use it for support to their maintenance and reporting procedures. More specifically, according to the accurate cell location, provided by the 5G network, the chatbot can not only narrow down the list of machines to the ones close to the worker’s location but also ensure that only authorized workers can operate on the machines, ensuring their safety. Lively conversations offered by the chatbot app can guide the worker to easily store information and obtain documentation material related to the respective machine. Interaction with multiple choice questions, free text, and the exchange of multimedia files are only some of the chatbot functionalities that will realize this use case scenario.

In a nutshell, the scope of this NetApp is to boost the interaction between the human and technical resources of a factory, to improve safety in a constant volatile environment, to bridge the gap between the already existent factories and the factories of the future and finally to improve the speed and the promptness of the operations in a factory.
